From Mexico City International (MEX)
About 4.5 hours total Airport to San Miguel

The least expensive option is to take a deluxe AreoPlus bus (same company as Primera Plus) from Mexico City Airport to Queretaro Central Bus Station. These are deluxe buses with coffee bar and restroom. They usually show a movie and offer a sandwich and soft drink. The trip is about 3.5 hours. Bus seats are about $24. Buy a ticket at the booth just outside Terminal D where the AeroPlus buses are.

Bus Schedule to Queretaro start about 8:30 AM and continue about every hour until 9 PM at night. There are a few buses that run between the hour. Then, from Queretaro Central Bus Station, buy a prepaid taxi voucher at the booth as you leave the terminal. The cost is about $35 and the trip takes about 45 minutes. If you are coming from Queretero, we can email you instruction for the taxi driver in Spanish that will bring you directly to our door. You can also have a car and driver pick you up in Queretaro for about $45.

Or, if your party is three or four, a car and driver can pick you up at the Mexico City Airport and bring you directly to our door. This is for a normal sedan and the cost is around $150. A van for four or five people is about $210 USD.

We will be pleased to make arrangements for pickup at the Mexico City Airport with about five days advance notice.

The same kind of arrangements can be made to return to either airport.

From Leon International (BJX)
About 1.5 hours to San Miguel

There are two van services between the Leon (BJX) Airport and San Miguel de Allende.

Viajes San Miguel: The cost per trip depends on the number traveling. One person is $60 and two is $30 each. More than two is $24 each. You can also arrange personal pickup for one or more in your party.

Money Exchange
There is no need to make change before you get into Mexico if you have a sufficient allowance for your ATM withdrawals. The best way to get pesos is through an ATM machine which gives you the best exchange rate and most services do not charge fees from the Mexico end. If they do, the machine will state so. Most machines have a maximum limit of 3000 pesos per withdrawal but you can make several withdrawals in succession up to your card's limit. Some machines go up to 5000 pesos per withdrawal. You will find machines in the airports.
